A rain-covered blade
Rainwater storage on a blade of grass near Savannah, Georgia, USA. Notice how little contact area is shared by the droplet and leaf surface. This should promote drainage of rainwater. However, the hydrophobicity of this steeply-inclined leaf surface does not prevent the grass blade from "cutting down" the amount of water reaching the surface!
