Hiking in the badlands (Calanchi)

The picture was taken in the "Calanchi Valley" in central Italy (Civita di Bagnoregio, Viterbo).
Badlands are a type of dry terrain where softer sedimentary rocks and clay-rich soils have been extensively eroded by wind and water. This area has experienced many morphological changes in the last century and the small village of Civita di Bagnoregio, on top of one of these formations, is slowly disappearing...
