"Fairy Palace" attacked by global warming
This hole was eaten into the cave-ice of the "Fairy Palace" (a section of the Dachstein Mammut Höhle/Austria) by change of ventilation, most likely due to climate change. Students of my "Cave and Karst" course of the Technische Universität Darmstadt inspect this remarkable witness of a changing environment in August 2008. The ice-wall is gone since then.
