Amazing stalactites in Chonta cavern, Mexico
by Stefan Doerr, Swansea University, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Amazing stalactites in Chonta cavern, Mexico. This incredibly decorated wall is in a huge collapse sinkhole over 100 metres across. I have been in many caves across the globe, but this is the most densely decorated wall with large speleothems I have seen. Chonta is tucked away in the jungle of the Grutas de Cacahuamilpa National park and a internationally renown rock climbing area.
