Oldoinyo Lengai summit view
by Jaap Berghuijs, ETH Zürich, Zürich, Switzerland
This majestic view from the summit of Oldoinyo Lengai offers a peek into the only active carbonatite volcano in the world. From up here, the 400 m tall rift escarpment, evaporites of Lake Natron and several monogenetic volcanic cones seem only miniscule.
