Nachvak Fjord
by Peter Huelse, Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, St. John's, Canada
This picture was taken during marine fieldwork in the remote Nachvak Fjord in northern Labrador. Fieldwork was conducted with local Inuit support. Our base for two weeks was the small Inuit fishing boat "What's Happening". In the evenings our Inuit friends guided us on land, telling about history, land, people and sharing their secret fishing grounds.
