Discover Water in the desert of Oman
by Mariasilvia Giamberini, National Council of Research, Pisa, Italy
Wadis are rich in water and life, and when a river emerges in front of one's eyes from a rocky and arid landscape, it is a marvellous surprise. Oman, despite its geographic position, is rich in water, due to the summer monsoon wind that reaches it at the end of the summer, and thanks to the mountains. This is Wadi Bani Khalid before the valley opens and the river offers its water to date palm cultivations, allowing nature to flourish and the population to make a living.
