Machu Picchu - ancient Inca ruins
by Sarah Weick, KIT, Germany
The ancient Inca city 'Machu Picchu' in the Peruvian mountains is one of the seven Wonders of the World. Built on granite, the ruins remained intact between two seperate mountains - the 'Huayna Picchu', from which the picture was taken, and the 'Machu Picchu'. The ancient stairs start in the lost city and reach to the mountain tops, but they are not easy to climb, mainly because of their hight.
