        Saint George between the clouds
Aerial view of São Jorge (portuguese for Saint George) Island, in the Azores archipelago, Portugal. São Jorge, known for slaying a dragon is a popular saint in Portugal being responsible for a major vitory against spanish invaders in the 14th century, named Batalha de Aljubarrota. The island with steep cliffs and a slender morphology was built on fissural vulcanism promoted by the expansion of the Atlantic crust associated with a major transform fault making it unique in the archipelago.
