The dead branches of the Dragon Blood Tree [Dracaena Cinnabari, Socotra, Yemen]
This picture was taken in Socotra (Soqotra, Yemen) a small and isolated island in the Indian Ocean facing the coast of Somalia. One third of Socotra's plant life is endemic, and for this reason the island is also known as 'the Galapagos of the Middle East'. The Dragon Blood Tree, with its 'fractal-like' canopy, is also an endemic species and the symbol of the island.
