Foehn clouds over Aoraki/Mt.Cook
The image shows impressive foehn clouds, created by a typical "Norwester" at the Main Divide of the Southern Alps of New Zealand. The clouds from in waves parallel to the Main Divide and are often streamlined by the high wind speed. The peak of Aoraki/Mt.Cook can be seen in the distance, so the highly paraglacially rewored lateral moraines of Mueller Glacier and the constantly enlarging proglacial lake in the foreground.
