Multiple Detachment Folds

Very thin marble and pelite layers that are highly deformed by folds which detach in the pelite layers. Image created by scanning a polished face of a hand specimen. Length approx. 8cm. Sample collected by Steffi Burchardt while mapping in the Carrara area.
