What remains of a glacier
The lower end of Fox Glacier in New Zealand. The rapid shrinking of the ice leaves the remains covered by a thick layer of debris. The hazards, which the instabile valley walls pose, can be seen in the debris aprons and also the seemingly small bulldozer, which is stationed at the glacier's end to remove rocks which block either the river or the tourists' pathways up to the glacier.
