Star Trails in Rocky Mountain National Park
by Martin Snow
As the Earth rotates, the stars appear to move in circles around the north pole. This photograph is a composite of many short exposures taken over the course of about 90 minutes. The straight lines are airplanes moving across the sky, while the curved lines are the stars. Automobile tail lights give the trees a red glow. The planes and car lights add a human influence to the natural beauty of the star trails.
