Where Groundwater Threads Stitch Andean Bofedales

by Katrine Trottier, École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), Montréal, Canada

This photograph was taken during fieldwork at Ausangate, in the Peruvian Andes. I became captivated by bofedales—wetlands that make hidden hydrology visible. Beneath my boots, groundwater and glacial meltwater moved through saturated soils, surfacing as shifting patterns of green and water.
