Lunar Eclipse Multi Exposure
by Benjamin Gutknecht, Universität Bonn, Bonn, Germany
The photograph shows a pre-programmed multi exposure of a lunar eclipse that occurred on 07 Sep 2025, taken near Bonn, Germany, shortly after moon rise still with notable atmospheric interference. The challenge with this capture was to correctly predict the shutter interval, so that the lunar disks would just intersect. This involves knowledge about relative distance, object size, and (net) angular velocity at your location. In other words: it is not a composite of individual pictures, but the same frame exposed multiple times after a predefined interval.
