The Erosion of Tasyaran, Usak, Turkey
by Aziz Aşar
This image shows a fluvial canyon formation in Taşyaran Valley, Uşak. The layered sedimentary rock has been shaped by long-term water erosion. Flowing water carved smooth, rounded surfaces through hydraulic action and abrasion, especially along bedding planes and natural fractures. The overhanging rock structure formed due to differential erosion, where weaker layers were worn away faster than more resistant ones. Small depressions at the base indicate localized vortex erosion. Overall, the landscape represents vertical stream incision and mechanically driven fluvial sculpting over geological time.
