Wei Sawdong Falls: A Tiered Waterfall Shaped by Differential Erosion in the Meghalaya Plateau

Wei Sawdong Falls, situated near Cherrapunji in Meghalaya, is a remarkable example of a multi-tiered waterfall sculpted within the rock formations of the Meghalaya Plateau. The waterfall descends in distinct turquoise cascades over limestone and resistant rock layers associated with the Precambrian gneissic complex that characterizes much of the plateau. Over centuries, the persistent erosive action of the Wah Rashi River has shaped these stepped formations, creating the dramatic, terraced geomorphology that defines the site today.
