In Rare Clear Skies, the Lasting Signs of Winter on Cairn Gorm Remain
On one of the rare clear days on Cairn Gorm, a Scottish mountain peak, a weather station remains locked in ice after days of cloud, wind, and freezing temperatures. While the summit appears calm, the frozen structure tells the story of the harsh winter conditions that usually dominate the mountain, and how difficult it can be to collect measurements in such an extreme environment. This brief moment of stillness offers a glimpse of how both the landscape and the instruments are shaped by the climate they endure.
