Geological perspectives

I took this picture at Itzurun Beach in Zumaia, Spain. This is a frontal vision of Flysch, a characteristic geologic formation of the Basque Coast resulting from a phenomenon of plate tectonics and sea water interacting with natural sedimentation. This peculiar vertical rock stratification was caused by the collision of two landmasses, the Bay of Biscay and the Pyrenees mountains, occurred around 110 million years ago. The sequence of sedimentary rock layers composed of thin, hard, graywacke-like sandstones created an amazing stratigraphy that seems composed of books of stone on a shelf, everyone with a specific cover that tells its history (https://harmsboone.org/2023/07/01/the-flysch/)
