Indigenous way of suppressing low-intensity understorey fires
by Kunal Mallick, Senior Research Fellow, Department of Geography, Presidency University, Kolkata, India
Since the flames remain low, the fire intensity is minimal, making it easier to control. In this video, the author collaborates with a local community member to suppress a low-intensity understorey fire using traditional techniques. However, this method carries some risk due to flying embers. Despite this, it effectively stops the fire, preventing its spread and minimizing potential damage.
