
Forest roads: human-made fuelbreaks in defence against human-induced wildfires

A forest road serves as a fuelbreak, restricting the spread of an understorey fire. One side of the road is visibly burnt, while the other remains Unaffected. In low-intensity fires, roads can effectively halt fire progression, safeguarding unburnt forest areas.
