Looking into the Fournaise
Eruption inside the Dolomieu crater at Piton de la Fournaise volcano (Réunion Island, France), in August 2006. Under the Moon, a volcanologist observes the activity and chooses the best location for lava sampling. Piton de la Fournaise literally means "Peak of the Furnace", a well named volcano as it is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
