Taşbaşı Deliklitaş: Natural Arch and Botan River View
by İbrahim Halil, Batman University, Batman, Türkiye
Located 4 km southeast of Siirt city center, Taşbaşı Deliklitaş is a striking geological structure formed by the natural erosion of steep limestone. Overlooking the Uluçay (Botan) that meanders from an altitude of approximately 350 meters, this area also contains caves used for shelter in pre-Christian times. The traces carved by human hands on the interior walls of the cave indicate the historical and cultural importance of the region. The combination of the perforated stone formation and the Uluçay below it offers visitors an impressive view both geologically and aesthetically.
