Eclogite from la Compointrie, Les Essarts complex, Vendée, Southern Armorican Massif, France.
The mineral assemblage comprises almandine garnets, omphacites and hornblendes as breakdown products during retrograde metamorphism. Some kyanite can be observed in the matrix, with a dull light-blue shade and dissolved edges.
