Pyritised shell fragment from the phosphorite of the Toolse deposit.
Suujõgi Member, Kallavere Formation, Tremadocian.
The breakdown of organic matter and the desorption of Fe-oxyhydroxides in anoxic conditions lead to the formation of micropyrites covering the shells, or within laminae initially rich in organic compounds.
