Labyrinth of mineral leaves

First, in English:
The Cerro del Hierro is a natural area in the Sierra Norte de Sevilla Natural Park (SW Spain). It is a karstic zone, composed of limestone rock, which was exploited as an iron mine from before Roman times until the second half of the 20th century. Today, Cerro del Hierro is considered a natural monument due to its scenic, geological, and historical value. The former mining village remains as a small settlement with few inhabitants, dependent on nearby San Nicolás del Puerto.
Among its many peculiarities, it is an area rich in pyrolusite (MnO₂). The name "pyrolusite" comes from "pyro" (meaning "fire" in Greek) and "lousis" (meaning "washing"), as it was used in ancient times to remove the greenish color that iron components gave to glass. Pyrolusite is often found in the form of "dendrites" (branching shapes) that occupy fracture planes within the slates. Therefore, its appearance resembles plant-like forms (such as ferns), which can lead to it being mistakenly confused with fossils.
