Three Peaks of Lavaredo
by Luis Samaniego, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research, Leipzig, Germany
A breathtaking view of the Three Peaks of Lavaredo, also known as the Drei Zinnen in German. These iconic peaks in the Sexten Dolomites of the Italian Alps are a marvel to behold, with their steep and well-defined shapes. Composed of well-layered dolomites, the Three Peaks were formed during the late Triassic period, which dates back to approximately 237-201 million years ago.
