Lava spilling in Nyiragongos's crater
by Jonas Kuhn, University of California, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, United States of America
From time to time lava spilled over the rim of the active hornito in Nyiragongo's crater area in February 2020. The image was taken with a filter that blocks most of the visible light and thus enhances the contrast of the lava's thermal emission to ambient sunlight.
