Experimental plot preserving unaltered toxic sludge in the proximity of the Doñana National Park

The Aznalcóllar disaster was an ecological disaster, produced by a dumping of toxic sludge in the Doñana National and Natural Park, in Andalusia (Spain), on April 25th , 1998, caused by the rupture of the Aznalcóllar Mining Raft, owned from the Swedish company Boliden.
Currently, researchers from the Spanish Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) and other institutions are conducting studies on the recovery of the affected areas.
