Sandstone cliff in Saxony Switzerland (East Germany)
by Cyril Mayaud, Karst Research Institute ZRC SAZU, Postojna, Slovenia
The Saxony Switzerland is very famous for his sandstone cliffs and is loved from climbers and hikers due to an unique scenery in middle Europe. The actual landscape was formed after the Creataceous marine regression mostly by weathering influence and by watercourse erosion. The picture is taken from the Carolafelsen (Carol's cliffs).
