Martian Lands Within Our Grasp
by Sergio Pérez, Sevilla, España
What most amazes me about the Grand Canyon is the way the river has carved the entire landscape, slowly but surely, leaving the exposed, Martian terrain we see today.
Comparing the Grand Canyon to the landscapes of Mars is to be expected, given the similar shapes and hues of the rock, and it being seemingly devoid of life. However, our planet isn't the only one to feature a gargantuan sized canyon. Mars' very own Valles Marineris surpasses the Grand Canyon in both length and width, and is the Solar System's largest canyon.
