Paricutin volcano ashes (Mexico)

This is a soil profile near the Paricutin Volcano (Michoacan, Mexico). The volcanic activity began in 1943 and the last eruption was recorded in 1952. Lava and lapilli covered a wide area and nearby villages Paricutín and San Juan Parangaricutiro.
