Skypools and landpools
by Konstantinos Kourtidis, Demokritus University of Thrace, Xanthi, Greece
Skypools are left-right elongated distorted reflections of the sky on the surface of the water, while landpools are distrorted images of the shore. Light coming to the observer from the far side of the wave comes from the land, while light from the top and near side of the wave comes from the sky. They are beautifully seen in this image; skypools are blue, while landpools are green (vegetation) and light brown (bare soil). The depth of the water is approximately 1 m here, hence the bottom texture is also seen. Image was taken at camping Lacara.
