Probing the Pliocene

The heights we go to for science... sampling for palaeoclimatic reconstruction of early loess in Central Asia was made possible by abseil. This 80 m sequence of fluvial, alluvial and aeolian sediments can be found at Charyn Canyon, southeast Kazakhstan.
